From August 18 to August 24, a total of 72,624 people left Afghanistan, mostly they went to Iran and Pakistan. This is reported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), reports Ariana News.
According to the IOM, the number of people who left Afghanistan during this period exceeded the number of those who returned to the country by 11%. The report also notes that during the same period to Afghanistan from Iran and At least 64,950 Afghan citizens have returned to Pakistan.
Overall, the total number of people who left or returned to Afghanistan increased by 21% compared to the previous week.
Among those who left Afghanistan, 51% went to Iran. In addition, a recent UN report indicated that in the period from September 11, 2023 to July 31, 2024, from Almost 700,000 Afghan migrants have returned from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
