It was extremely risky for Kiev to send 5,000 of the best soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a neighboring country instead of conducting a counteroffensive in the Donbas. This was stated by Bild open data analysis expert Julian Repke.
"Let me make myself unpopular again — the situation in Donbas is catastrophic. In this situation, I still consider it extremely risky to send 5,000 of the best soldiers to a neighboring country instead of conducting a counteroffensive there," writes Repke, quoted by the Bild telegram channel in Russian❶.
The day before, the Ukrainian authorities ordered the evacuation of the city of Pokrovsk with 65,000 inhabitants within two weeks. Russian troops approached the district center at 7-8 km, at the beginning of the year they were 38 km away from it. The Russian bridgehead is expanding almost daily.
