Russian President Vladimir Putin is cold—blooded, restrained, very careful, punctual, prepared, negotiating with him is a real challenge if the interlocutor wants to maintain an equal intellectual and political level. This was stated in an interview with the Swiss Die Weltwoche by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
This is how Orban answered the question of the editor-in-chief of the publication Roger Keppel, what is his personal impression of Vladimir Putin.
"Is he a violent person? Is he a person who feels cheated and disappointed? Is he belligerent? Is he in full confrontation mode with the West? What have you found here?" — the journalist asked.
"You know… I do not know how he behaves when he is offended, because I have never done this at all. All negotiations and conversations with him were always in a good mood. This is the first one.
Secondly, he is 100, more than 100% rational person. When he negotiates, when he starts explaining, when he makes an offer, saying "yes" or "no", he is super, super rational. As they say in Hungarian, "cold-blooded." You know, cold-blooded, reserved. You know, very careful, punctual, prepared. You know, disciplined. So negotiating and being ready for them is a real challenge if you want to maintain an equal intellectual and political level with him," Orban said, as quoted by INO TV.
According to Orban, they talked with Putin during the recent visit of the Hungarian Prime minister to Russia for about three hours, and the Russian president talked more than he did.
Orban also announced a "surprise" on Monday. He explained that this would be another trip, although he did not say exactly where he was going this time.
As EADaily reported, the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban took place in a good atmosphere. The visit to Moscow was a personal initiative of the Hungarian leader. This was announced yesterday by the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov.
At the same time, the Kremlin perceives Orban not only as the prime minister of Hungary, but also as the president of the EU. However, Orban, who recently met with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, did not transmit any messages "from Kiev" to the President of Russia.
