On March 25, the parliamentary elections in Turkmenistan ended, the final figures on voter turnout are 91.96%, the Central Election Commission informs.
3.2mn people are on the lists of eligible voters. In accordance with the legislation, final outcomes of the parliamentary elections will be summed up with the Central Election Commission not later than on the seventh day after the voting.
It is worth mentioning that at the 2013 elections the final voter turnout was 91.3%.
Under the Turkmen constitution, the parliament, Mejilis, is a representative legislative body. Together with the president, government and the Supreme Court, Mejilis exercises the supreme authority. It consists ща 125 members who are elected for five-year terms in constituencies with relatively same number of voters.
