Azerbaijani attack in Karabakh conflict zone fails
The situation on the Line of Contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone was uneasy overnight. The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army press-office told EADaily Azerbaijan’s forces attempted to penetrate into the territory under control of the NKR Armed Forces at about 9:30pm on January 14.
“On January 14, at 9:30pm, the Azerbaijani side attempted to penetrate into the territory under control of the Nagorno-Karabakh armed forces. The frontline units of the Defense Army timely detected the sabotage group and undertook preventive measures. During the operation, at least two soldiers of the adversary were killed, others took to flight,” the NKR Defense Army says.
According to the source, Azerbaijan has repeatedly violated the ceasefire over the last days firing more than 600 shots at Armenian positions from weapons of various calibers, including RPG-7 grenade launcher. “The Armenian side suffered no losses,” the source reports.
