For over twelve hours already the Ukrainian armed forces have been shelling the village of Spartak (to the north from Donetsk) from their positions in Avdeyevka and Opytnoye.
According to the local administration, the Ukrainians are using tanks. No casualties have been reported yet.
The village of Spartak is located near the Donetsk Airport. Almost all of the houses there have been destroyed. The Donetsk authorities have undertaken several attempts to evacuate the local population, but people refuse to leave their houses.
Last night, the Ukrainian army also shelled the villages of Severny and Staromikhaylovka. Two people were wounded.
As EADaily reported earlier, the Defense Ministry of the Donetsk People’s Republic has obtained secret information from a source in the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army. The materials say that shortly the Ukrainian troops are planning to attack Mariupol and Debaltsevo with a view to trap Donetsk and to get access to the Russian border. They in Kiev hope that this blitzkrieg will help them to defeat the self-defense troops and to destroy the people’s republics of Donbass.
