Russia is working on the project called Bessarabia it is going to carry out in Odessa region. Most of the residents of that territory watch only Russian TV channels, which makes it easy for the Kremlin to implement its plans, Governor of Odessa region Mikheil Saakashvili said on Tuesday.
“I am ashamed to say that Putin cares for Ukrainian Bessarabia more than our government does. They have a project called Bessarabia. They are going to do something there. Most of the residents of that territory watch only Russian TV channels,” Saakashvili is quoted as saying by Podrobnosti.ua.
He stressed the importance of Bessarabia as a strategic road from Ukraine to Romania, that is, to the European Union.
“Today the people living there are isolated and the only thing they know about Ukraine is greedy bureaucrats, awful roads, a prosecutor who has made the ferry across Danube a personal source of income and a judge who has forbidden farmers to gather crops,” Saakashvili said.
