People’s Deputy of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko is not the interior minister’s aide either on a voluntary basis or for any other cause, the website of Ukraine’s Department for Fight against Organized Crime says citing lawyer Andrey Tsygankov.
There are several official documents regarding Gerashchenko’s status available on the website. “What is the point of misleading the public and assuming a status? Is it self-activity of the media?” Tsygankov said and recommended “verifying the regalia of the popular people so that they could not mess around.” “Maybe the Interior Ministry is also a subsidiary of the People’s Front or maybe the People’s Front is the subsidiary of the Interior Ministry? Is it interference by a people’s deputy into the activity of the Interior Ministry or is it the Interior Ministry’s influence on the stand and activity of the people’s deputy?” the lawyer asks.
In addition, the lawyer is concerned over generosity of “rewards of the future people’s deputy, considering his relationships with the Interior Ministry.” In fact, Gerashchenko was assigned “a reward for his devotion to the work (monthly, as indicated) which was nearly five times higher than the basic salary.”
Noteworthy, Anton Gerashchenko is still mentioned as “an interior minister’s aide” on websites of government-controlled Ukrainian media. For instance, the tongue of the Kiev propaganda, Unian, calls him the minister’s aide.
