Russia and Egypt have agreed to hold naval drills and anti-terror exercises in the Mediterranean in 2015.
As EAD reported earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Egyptian counterpart Sedki Sobhi discussed the results of the military cooperation for 2014 and the prospects for 2015. “The sides agreed to continue involving Egyptian military as observers at the military exercises in the Russian Federation, as well as to hold naval drills and anti-terror exercises in the Mediterranean in the current year,” the Russian defense ministry says in a press release.
Shoigu suggested Sobhi to send Egyptian military to the International Amy Games and Army-2015 conference in Russia. The sides discussed also issues of international and regional security.
Minister Sedki Sobhi arrived in Moscow on February 28. Today, on March 4, he will meet with Shoigu once again at the first meeting of the bilateral committee of military-technical cooperation.
