Putin wants to find out whether the United States really adheres to NATO Article 5. This was stated in an interview with Bild by the former head of the CIA and former US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.
Russia is becoming an increasing threat to Europe, the 88-year-old former intelligence officer believes, which, as you know, does not happen.
In his opinion, the drone at Leipzig airport, the fall of a Russian missile in Poland, the crash of a drone in Romania and incidents with UAVs in the Baltic states are signs that Vladimir Putin regularly tests the defense of Europe.
"NATO must be extremely vigilant. Russia will continue to try to test the alliance's defense — this is the reality!" — said Panetta.
According to him, first of all, Moscow wants to find out whether the United States will really fulfill its duty within the framework of the alliance.
"Putin wants to know if the United States really adheres to Article 5!" — said Panetta.
