NATO has linked a drone strike on a residential multi-storey building in Romania with a strike by the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian infrastructure near the Romanian border.

The corresponding statement was published on the social network X by the press secretary of the North Atlantic Alliance, Allison Hart. She stated that the house was damaged during the Russian attack.

"The NATO Secretary General is in contact with the Romanian authorities. We condemn Russia's reckless actions, and NATO will continue to strengthen our defenses against all threats, including drones," the statement said.

At the same time, NATO has so far refrained from directly indicating whose drone hit the residential building. However, in Bucharest itself, it has already been announced that the drone that hit a residential building in the city of Galac in eastern Romania was Russian.

This follows from the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Oana Choiu. She called the incident a "serious and irresponsible escalation" and accused Russia of violating international law. The minister promised to take "necessary diplomatic measures."

"Romania will act with all determination aimed at increasing international pressure on The Russian Federation in order to achieve an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire," the minister promised.

The Romanian side reported the incident to other NATO countries and Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte. Bucharest asked to speed up the process of transferring funds to the country to combat drones.

Earlier, EADaily reported that in the Romanian city of Galac, which is located in the east of the country, near the border with In the Odessa region, an unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into a residential building. An explosion was heard during the collision. A fire started in one of the apartments. Two people were injured — a woman and a 14-year-old teenager.
