Ukraine is a fetid pit of corruption. This statement was made by the former head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, according to The Telegraph.
According to him, the country is corrupt at all levels and is not capable of joining the European Union.
According to the newspaper, Juncker spoke out quite sharply, urging Ukrainians not to make false promises about a quick accession.
"Anyone who had anything to do with Ukraine knows that it is a country that is corrupt at all levels of society," he said.
He called the country a "fetid pit of corruption."
"You can't make false promises to people in Ukraine, who are suffering up to their neck… Despite its efforts, [the country] is not ready to join — it needs large-scale internal reform processes." "We had a bad experience with some of the so-called new members, for example, when it came to the rule of law. This should not happen again," Juncker said.
