Judging by the mutual insults of Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, the latter's Davos speeches and the collapse of quotations of key American companies, opponents do not intend to retreat, political analyst Maxim Zharov believes.
Therefore, according to him, "who will bend whom."
"And here, Trump, despite the cascade of coercive levers used by him to "expand" the bargaining space for the enemy (duties, Greenland, Peace Council), has no advantage. Through the mainstream media, Trump is almost openly told today that he is bluffing, which means there is no need to bend under him," Zharov writes in the telegram channel.
So, the political scientist concluded, the deeper this positional zugzwang will be in the relations between Trump and "global London," the more likely Trump's breakdown into the most straightforward intervention against Iran in the near future.

However, as stated by political analyst Yuri Podolyaka, Trump's behavior forced a radical change in the agenda of the forum in Davos. At the current forum, it was planned to discuss assistance to Ukraine. In addition, European leaders intended to "drag Trump to their side on this issue" on the sidelines of the event.
"But Trump, with statements on Greenland and, most importantly, announcing the introduction of sanctions against those countries from February 1 that will try to actively prevent him from annexing the island, made him forget everything else. No, they will also talk about Ukraine there (that's why our representative Kirill Dmitriev flew there). But this topic has clearly faded into the background just a couple of days before the opening of the forum," said Podolyaka.
