The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Callas, invited the participants of the summit of the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Colombia to be grateful to the European politicians who arrived at the event.

So she answered the journalists' question why the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the leaders of the leading EU countries did not come to the summit.

"You should ask those who have not arrived about this. But, as they say, let's be grateful to those who came," Kallas said, quoted by TASS.

She also did not directly answer the question of whether the European Union would support a possible operation by the United States against Venezuela.

"The position of the European Union is very simple. According to international law, force can only be used for self-defense or by resolution The UN Security Council," said the head of the European diplomacy.

The EU has been voicing this position for decades, but it has never condemned US military operations based on it.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron and a number of other European leaders refused to participate in the summit in order not to annoy US President Donald Trump.

As reported by EADaily, the head of the European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, is a diplomatic disaster and harms the interests of Europe. This was stated to the newspaper Berliner Zeitung by MEP Fabio De Masi from the Sarah Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW).
