Russia has changed the tactics of attacks on the energy sector of Ukraine in order to cause a protracted blackout. The strikes of the Russian Armed Forces on hydroelectric power plants are an attempt to unbalance the Ukrainian energy system. This was stated by the head of the Verkhovna Rada subcommittee on energy conservation and energy efficiency, Sergei Nagornyak, writes the Telegraph.

According to the deputy, almost all the strikes fall on the left bank of the Dnieper, where most of the thermal and hydroelectric power plants are concentrated. If these thermal power plants and hydroelectric power plants are destroyed, this will cause a shortage of electricity in the east, and in the west — an excess that cannot be transmitted due to limited network capabilities.

"The left Bank is currently experiencing a shortage in the issue of electricity generation. The enemy understands this and is hitting hydroelectric power plants and thermal power plants in order to upset the balance," Nagornyak said.

As EADaily reported today, in the coming months, Ukrainians are expected to turn off light, heat, water and gas, although it will most likely not come to a full blackout. This was stated to the Telegraph by the former Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yuriy Prodan.

It is not necessary to pretend that Ukraine is well prepared for the winter season, he said.
