US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the country's President Donald Trump may at some point come to the conclusion that it is impossible to reach a settlement at the Ukraine. But now the head of the White House is ready to do everything to end the conflict.
Before departure from Tel Aviv to Doha journalists asked the head of the US State Department about the "red lines on Ukraine".
"He [Trump] is trying to do everything possible to put an end to this [conflict]. We are working closely with our partners in Europe on security guarantees, because this will be necessary for any negotiated settlement. And he will keep trying. He thinks it's possible, he wants to achieve it. At some point, the president [Trump] may come to the conclusion that this is impossible. He hasn't gotten to that point yet, but he might. But, you know, he's really ready to do whatever is necessary. There is a way to end this war. He just wants it to end," the head of American diplomacy replied, quoted by TASS.
EADaily adds: today, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that "the position of the American administration [on the issue of settlement on Ukraine] comes from common sense." According to him, "the discussions and understandings that were reached in Anchorage are a groundwork that not only cannot be neglected, but must be relied on." As Ryabkov stressed, "there is no alternative to moving in this direction, if we are talking about a settlement."
