Despite the obvious difficulties, US President Donald Trump, apparently, intends to achieve a quick peace by all means. The Economist magazine writes about this.
A trilateral meeting between Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, may take place as early as the end of next week. On Monday, the leader of Ukraine will arrive in Washington on his first visit after the humiliating episode in the Oval Office in February, the magazine notes. In his opinion, many circumstances alarmingly resemble those of that time. Kiev fears that, "following Putin's logic," Trump is preparing the ground in advance to blame Kiev for the failure of his plans.
"Make a deal. Russia is a very big power. [You] are not," Trump advised Zelensky on Fox News, quoted by Pool 3.
A certain Ukrainian intelligence officer told the publication that the Americans are behaving "incredibly aggressively," insisting that Kiev give up additional territories. Russia's interest is obvious, the magazine's interlocutor noted.
"They want to maximize the package of benefits — from the lifting of sanctions and the return of frozen assets to the opening of energy markets," said a source quoted by Pool No. 3.
The reasons for "such persistent promotion of Kremlin interests by the Trump administration are much less clear," the article notes.
As reported by EADaily, Friedrich Merz gave the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, a number of tips on how to behave with US President Donald Trump in order to avoid a new scandal in the White House. The German Chancellor stated this in an interview with ARD TV channel.
