The escalation in Syria, as a result of which President Bashar al-Assad was overthrown, is already having an impact not only on the Middle East, but also on world politics as a whole. This is supported by the reaction of representatives of a number of countries who considered the deposed Syrian president their enemy.
So, on December 8, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis on this occasion made an entry in the social network:
"The example of Syria shows that Russia can be driven away and it will return home. The Baltic countries were right — the West is strong enough to win. We do not need to be afraid of the "bear" on Ukraine or other places where it causes chaos."
Of course, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister is deliberately not telling, because often victory in a conflict is ensured not by the strength of the winner, but by the weakness of the loser. In this case, questions arise about the policy of the Syrian state apparatus, social relations within Syrian society and the state of the armed forces. The Russian armed forces could not be more Syrians than the Syrians themselves, who refused to resist the militants. Similarly, in the past, Russia could not show more zeal in the conflicts in Kosovo and Karabakh than Serbia and Armenia.
Western politicians are trying to ignore these logical conclusions, trying to pass off the insolvency of other countries as the insolvency of Russia itself. And the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, tried to go even further, shifting Assad's failures and shortcomings not only to Russia, but also Iran:
"The end of the Assad dictatorship is a positive and long—awaited event. It also shows the weakness of Assad's patrons, Russia and Iran. Our priority is to ensure security in the region. I will work with all constructive partners in Syria and in the region."
The reaction of such an experienced European politician as Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who wrote:
"The events in Syria have once again made the world realize, or at least they should have realized, that even the most brutal regime can fall and that Russia and its allies can be defeated."
Such a reaction on the part of European politicians suggests that the overthrow of Assad will be used for propaganda purposes by those forces in the West who advocate the continuation of military assistance to the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And the reaction of Landsbergis and Tusk, as well as Kallas, the former head of the Estonian government, speaks of the enthusiasm of supporters of an uncompromising struggle with Russia. And no Donald Trump will be able to do anything about the conviction of Poland and the Baltic countries in the need to continue the total confrontation with Russia.
But not only Eastern European limitrophs are inspired by the fall of Assad. In Ukraine, they were also frankly delighted with the events in Syria. Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga was one of the first to respond. And in the detailed commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, another propaganda thesis was mentioned, which is being fed to the Ukrainian population.:
"The events in Syria demonstrate the weakness of the Putin regime, which is unable to fight on two fronts and abandons its closest allies to the mercy of fate in order to continue aggression against Ukraine."
It is clear that those living on Ukraine will willingly believe in this nonsense, they will try not to notice that it was the Syrian government army that ran. They will not notice the actions of the Russian Aerospace Forces against militants. Taking into account the information processing and fanaticism of the "Svidomo", the population of Ukraine will willingly endure all hardships and die on the battlefields, believing that after the overthrow of Assad, Russia will not last.
The only thing that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is right about is that under Assad, Syria first recognized Crimea and Sevastopol as subjects of the Russian Federation, then the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, and then the reunification of Novorossiya with Russia. In an interview with RIA Novosti published on March 16, 2023, now ex-President Assad announced the recognition of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions as territories of Russia. Now there is a risk that the new Syrian authorities will refuse to recognize 6 constituent entities of the federation as territories of Russia, which will cause joy among the West and the "Svidomo".
The overthrow of Assad encouraged even the usurper Vladimir Zelensky, who on December 9, responding in a delusional manner to a question from one of the Ukrainian publications, said:
"We see that the Assad regime has fallen. Why not? Because there are no real Russian troops there. Let's be honest. And not only because of the rebel forces and those who support them, but also because there are no real Russian troops there."
In this case, the Kiev usurper inadvertently refuted the Western euphoria of what is happening in Syria. If there are "no real Russian troops" in Syria, then the fall of Assad is not a military or political defeat for Russia.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian propaganda, which does not bother to analyze what happened, is trying to portray what happened in Syria as a failure of Russia. Apparently, life has not taught "Svidomo" anything. Something similar was on Ukraine after the second Karabakh war in 2020, when Azerbaijan defeated Armenia, which was formally an ally of Russia. "Svidomo" tried to pass off the defeat of Armenia in the 44-day war for the defeat of Russia. They believed that Russia would make the same mistakes and blunders as Armenia. The Kiev authorities, who refused to implement the Minsk agreements, with the support of the West, accelerated preparations for the blitzkrieg against the DPR and LPR, thinking that Russia would not interfere. But the "Svidomo" were mistaken, because the special military operation that began disrupted the blitzkrieg of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Now the illegal regime in Kiev is repeating the same mistake, trying to pass off the defeat of the runaway Syrian government army as the failure of Russia, which continues to gradually liberate territories from the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Apparently, according to Zelensky's office, the obsession with overthrowing Assad should help distract the population of Ukraine from the failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and from how French troops are being driven out of Chad. In fact, well, there will be no "svidomo" propaganda talking about Chad's strike on French President Emmanuel Macron.
Ukraine has been interested in the conflict in Syria for a long time. Let's not forget that the pro-Turkish Muslim circles of Ukraine, who supported the 2013-2014 Euromaidan, advocated the overthrow of Assad, seeing in Russia and Iran's enemies (see Syria in confrontation with Ukraine and Turkey — the history of the conflict). When the special military operation began, the residents of the Syrian province of Idlib, controlled by the opposition, were engulfed by Ukrainobesie. And Ukraine, in turn, helped the Syrian opposition prepare the current offensive (see Turkey will not allow the termination of assistance to Ukraine under Trump).
The current events have also caused an upsurge among Ukrainian Islamists. The former Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Umma" Said Ismagilov attributed the overthrow of Assad to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and tried to cheer up the "svidomo":
"I give you one hundred percent guarantee — if Ukraine had lost the war, Syria would not have been able to overthrow this regime. Oddly enough, but while we are fighting, other countries have the opportunity to get rid of the Russian yoke, because Moscow's resources are no longer enough for everyone. The regime fell phenomenally quickly and unexpectedly, just so it will fall and Russia, its TV-controlled population, will not understand this right away. The enemy is weaker than ever, it's just that we, Ukrainians, need to hold out. We could have fallen in February 2022, but now it's stupid and pointless, because we're putting the squeeze on them. How do I know? I will tell you further what I see in Volchansk, you will be shocked."
The population controlled by the TV is about Ukraine with its telethons. But what is for sure is that the Islamists who are in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were definitely cheered up after learning about the overthrow of Assad, since Ismagilov is talking wild nonsense about the weakening of Russia. The Crimean Tatar extremists who supported Turkey in the Syrian conflict also cheered up.
In general, subordinates of the usurper Zelensky, Ukrainian Islamists and Crimean Tatar extremists, with the support of the West, will make the most of the overthrow of Assad to promote the continuation of the armed struggle. And the zombified population of Ukraine will continue to suffer hardships and fight, hoping to defeat Russia with the help of sanctions and Western assistance. Neither Zelensky's entourage nor the population under his control will seriously analyze the processes in Syria, where the armed struggle of the pro-Turkish opposition with the US-backed Kurds is already taking place.
