Terror as a method of “hybrid war”: the United States recognize new reality

If you look back at all terrorist attacks of the last months and years, you will see that terror has ceased to be a method of political struggle used by the weaker against the stronger. In the past, the weaker Catholic Irishmen had no other alternative to fight for the freedom of Ulster as to declare a terrorist war against the stronger insatiable England under the flag of the Irish Republic Army. The same is true for the Kurds, for whom terrorist attacks by their Kurdish Workers Party were the only way to be recognized as Kurds in the stronger Ottoman Turkey. But today terror has become a practice of “hybrid war.” And for the first time it was used by the Americans against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.

Over the last years, we have witnessed regular terrorist acts in “democratized” Iraq and Afghanistan, in the Middle East “Switzerland,” Lebanon, in Syria, in Donbass, in the Indian city of Mumbai. And nobody in the “civilized world” cared. But once a terrorist act occurred in Paris, the world was outraged. They in the West are still mourning for the victims of the terrorist attack in New York, but they stayed indifferent when the Turks shot down a Russian plane.

Of course, now they know their goal – to destroy the Islamic State or the “Caliphate.” But what about destroying those who created and sponsored that group? We all know that it was not some Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi or any other “Abu Bakrs.” It was not they who created groups like Taliban and Al Qaeda. If you still believe that terrorists are just poor people fighting for freedom in Ireland and Kurdistan, please, read the confessions of Mr. Zbigniew Brzezinski. Today, no single terrorist group is free from politics. All of them are carrying out specific tasks set by either those seeking to seize the world or those resisting them...

Now we are witnessing retaliation campaigns against terrorists in France and Syria. What next? What will they in the West do if they face more terrorist attacks? Will they crush the ISIL? Now everybody is ready to bomb the ISIL’s oil facilities and the caravans smuggling oil from Iraq and Syria. More and more people are beginning to say that those buying and reselling that oil must be punished. The world is unanimous that Mosul and al-Raqqah must be liberated from terrorists. And so, it is ready to bomb the Middle East.

But bombs will not kill terrorism. As long as there are people who are ready to sponsor “hybrid wars,” there will be “Arab springs” and “revolutionary” terrorists serving others’ interests. In this light, Turkey may become the next potential target – as they in the West can no longer reject President Putin’s arguments.

When the Russian president said that the money earned from the sale of Syrian oil is being used for sponsoring terrorists, President Hollande could not help reacting. Putin also mentioned a special UN resolution prohibiting anybody from buying oil from terrorists – “for in those barrels there is not oil but the blood of people – for this money is used for buying arms and organizing bloody attacks.”

The key organizer of “hybrid wars,” the United States, has also reacted. “The Obama administration is pressing Turkey to deploy thousands of additional troops along its border with Syria to cordon off a 60-mile stretch of frontier that U.S. officials say is used by Islamic State to move foreign fighters in and out of the war zone,” The Wall Street Journal reports and quotes a senior Obama administration official as saying: “The game has changed. Enough is enough. The border needs to be sealed. This is an international threat, and it’s all coming out of Syria and it’s coming through Turkish territory.”
