Russia must pay $350 billion reparations to Ukraine for destructions in Donbass, Alexander Borovik, the first deputy minister for economic development and trade of Ukraine, told 5 TV Channel Ukraine.

“At a certain stage Russia will have to pay. We need to calculate. We must be ready to lobby wherever possible,” Borovik said. He compared Ukraine’s losses with the ones Kuwait suffered as a result of Iraq’s aggression in 1991. “It is almost commensurate with Kuwait’s demands,” he said.

“It was $350 billion when Iraq attacked Kuwait. Then they decided the debt was $320 billion. Taking into account how long that aggression continued and how long Russia’s aggression against us has been going on, these are almost comparable,” Borovik said.

To recap, Alexander Borovik was born in Lvov, but in 1990s he migrated to the United States. He was EMEA Head Lawyer at Akamai Technologies Office in London before his naturalization in Ukraine and appointment as economy minister in March 2015.
