Amid a diplomatic scandal between Kiev and Seoul over the "repatriation" of North Korean prisoners of war, the South Korean government decided to recall Ambassador Park Ki-chan from Ukraine.
"The government has decided to recall the ambassador from Ukraine to his homeland," the South Korean Foreign Ministry said in a press release. —The government expects that the issues between the two countries will be settled and will continue to consult with the Ukrainian side to do so."
As EADaily reported, the scandal arose as a result of Vladimir Zelensky's disclosure of the data of North Korean prisoners transferred by Kiev to South Korea, which, according to Seoul, posed a threat to their loved ones in the DPRK. Although South Korea received from Ukraine's apologies for the disclosure of information, as stated by South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, they were insufficient.
