Germany has linked the incident with the drone at Leipzig airport with the GRU. This is reported by DW❶❷ with reference to Welt am Sonntag.
It is noted that the German security services allegedly contacted an alleged employee of the Russian military intelligence, who is believed to be involved in the preparation and logistics of the drone operation at Leipzig airport.
" The German security authorities, during the investigation of the attempted attack on Leipzig/Halle airport, went directly to the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Main Intelligence Directorate — GRU), the weekly Welt am Sonntag reported on Saturday, September 12. In the classified materials of the investigation, the alleged GRU officer is called the logistician of the operation. According to security sources, the suspects are Russian Oleg L. and Belarusian Andrei K. The preparation and logistics of the operation were allegedly handled by Oleg L., whom the German security authorities refer to as the GRU, the newspaper writes", — the publication says.
Oleg L. reportedly arrived in Germany via Turkey, and left the country from Berlin-Brandenburg airport to Serbia. German investigators already knew at his entrance that the man " belongs to the GRU environment", Welt am Sonntag assures. At the same time, after Oleg L. entered Germany, no one set up surveillance for him. It is assumed that the suspect is now in Russia.
In early August, a drone with explosives was found at Leipzig airport next to Ukrainian transport planes, the airport is used as a transshipment point for military aid supplies to Ukraine, DW reminds.❶❷.
