The second nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan will be built by China, reports News agency "Fergana".
According to the publication, Serbian President Alexander Vucic said this when speaking at the Serbian-Uzbek business forum in Belgrade on September 8.
"I asked President Mirziyoyev this morning at a one-on-one meeting, and then he told me: "I am building one nuclear power plant with the Russians, I am building a second station with the Chinese, but this is not enough for me. Discussing Uzbekistan's energy strategy, Vucic drew attention to Mirziyoyev's foresight in assessing the country's future energy needs. The Serbian President stressed that this includes the development of data centers, artificial intelligence, innovation and electric vehicles. Vucic noted the approach of the Uzbek leadership to increasing electricity production and pointed out that European countries should also take into account the upcoming growth in demand for energy resources.
Russia is implementing the first nuclear project in the Farishi district of the Jizzakh region. The plant will include two VVER-1000 reactors with a capacity of one gigawatt each and two small modular reactors RITM-200N with a capacity of 55 megawatts each. The technical launch of the first small reactor is scheduled for October-November 2029, and the second — six months after that. The first large power unit will be commissioned in 2033, and the full completion of the station is expected in 2034-2035. The total capacity of the first nuclear power plant will reach 2110 megawatts, and annual production can reach up to 17 billion kilowatt-hours. The basic cost of the project is estimated at $ 9.5 billion.
