Abkhaz blogger Daur Buava, who moved to Tbilisi and received a Georgian passport, was found dead in an apartment in Tbilisi, TV Pirveli reports.
It is indicated that the blogger has 57 thousand subscribers on Facebook❶, 100 thousand subscribers on TikTok, and 22.5 thousand subscribers on Instagram❶.
EADaily reported that in the summer of 2022, a case was initiated in Abkhazia under Article 273 of the RA Criminal Code "High Treason" against a citizen of the republic who was in Georgia.
"The preliminary investigation established that in October 2021, on the Tik Tok social network, on a page registered in the name of a citizen of the Republic of Abkhazia, Daura Buava, publications were found in the form of videos containing direct and hidden appeals to an unlimited number of users aimed at harming sovereignty, territorial integrity, state security and defense capability, rendering assistance to a foreign state in carrying out hostile activities against the Republic of Abkhazia," the State Security Service said in a statement.
In publications, according to the State Security Service, propaganda is carried out for the accession of the sovereign Republic of Abkhazia to Georgia as an autonomous republic with the consolidation of legal status in the Constitution of Georgia.
"The author of the videos, being on the territory of Georgia, highlights the future positive aspects of the accession of the Republic of Abkhazia to Georgia in his propaganda, thereby assisting a foreign state in carrying out hostile activities encroaching on the sovereignty and security of the Republic of Abkhazia," the State Security Service of Abkhazia said.
It was also noted that in 2015, Buava was put on the federal wanted list on the territory of the Russian Federation under Part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal acquisition and storage of narcotic drugs on a large scale."
In 2023, the blogger spoke in the European Parliament at the panel discussion "Sustainable peace in the South Caucasus region," saying that the war in Abkhazia was "provoked by Russia."
