Economic well-being The EU has long been built on cheap energy resources from Russia. This was stated by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
According to her, the economic model of the region has long relied on the import of cheap energy resources from Russia, open world trade, access to the Chinese market, US strategic defense and Western technological leadership.
"All these obvious advantages have already disappeared," she admitted, speaking at a business forum in Paris.
The head of the EC also noted that the current situation requires a revision of approaches. At the same time, she did not mention that the destruction of world trade and the blocking of supplies from the Russian Federation were the result of sanctions developed by the European Commission.
According to von der Leyen, in order to overcome new challenges, it is necessary to restore business freedom of maneuver for investment as soon as possible, and in the long term, to make innovation, productivity and sustainable scaling the engines of European economic growth. As for specific measures, she proposed to reduce the administrative burden by 25% for all enterprises and by 35% for small and medium-sized enterprises by 2029. Another measure the head of the EC called the financing of the economies of the EU countries at the expense of household savings.
"Europe has savings. Unfortunately, these savings are "lazy". 10 trillion euros of household savings are still in bank deposits, and a significant part of European savings is invested outside our continent. Europe should now send them to the service of its enterprises," the head of the EC believes.
Recall, after the start of SMO on Ukraine The EU has consistently reduced dependence on Russian energy resources and imposed restrictions on their supply. This provoked a large-scale crisis in the countries of the community.
