A German citizen tried to receive dividends from Gazprom shares, but was refused. The reason was the concealment of information about citizenship and sanctions.
"A German citizen wanted to receive 57.5 million rubles. dividends from shares of PJSC Gazprom, despite the sanctions, but the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region rejected the claim," Vedomosti reported with reference to the file of arbitration cases.
It is known that a German citizen filed an application with the court demanding to collect dividends from Gazprom shares, as well as a penalty of 29.9 million rubles. He motivated his claim by the fact that Gazprom decided to pay profits to shareholders for the 1st half of the year in 2022. He also made a request to the company itself, but the owner of more than 1.1 million ordinary shares was refused there.
The shareholder missed the period of applying for dividends, hid information about citizenship and tried to evade sanctions restrictions, since payments to representatives of unfriendly countries are transferred to a special account, and he did not have it.
"Bearing in mind all these circumstances, the court rejected the plaintiff's claims," Vedomosti writes.
