Russia is preparing for a possible new wave of mobilization, although there is no final decision yet. It is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing Western intelligence.
It is noted that in July, exercises were held in the Kaliningrad region, where they practiced the mass appeal of the inhabitants of the region — from accommodation and meals to the issue of weapons. According to WSJ sources, the same events are taking place in other regions of Russia.
The decision on mobilization is unlikely to be made before the parliamentary elections at the end of September, Western officials believe. However, Moscow, according to the publication, "it is increasingly difficult to compensate for losses at the front with voluntary recruitment." At the same time, the new mobilization may not take place in the same way as in 2022, since in recent years in Russia has created an electronic register of those liable for military service, which allows increasing the draft gradually.
At the same time, even if mobilization is announced, it will be able to influence the situation at least next year, military analyst Michael Kofman believes.
It should be noted that the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, said today that Russia could call up to 300,000 recruits after the parliamentary elections. Recall, he used to talk about 500 thousand.
As reported by EADaily, Russia does not need to mobilize — there is no need for it, said Deputy head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. "I would like to emphasize once again: there is no need for mobilization," he said on July 28 at a meeting of the interdepartmental commission The Security Council of the Russian Federation for the recruitment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation by contract servicemen.
Earlier, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, said that he had a plan to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war. He reported this on The Ukrainian International Forum.
