Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that if Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk really supports acts of terrorist sabotage against the energy infrastructure of Europe, which is the undermining of Nord Stream, then this causes amazement.

"If Mr. Tusk advocates such acts of terrorist sabotage and supports them, it can cause nothing but amazement and misunderstanding," Peskov told reporters.
"Those who invested in the construction of this gas pipeline, its two lines, those who launched the first Nord Stream line, invested in the energy future and competitiveness of the European economy and made a real contribution, not in words, but in ensuring energy security on the European continent. Those who blew up one of the threads of the Nord Stream committed an act of terrorist sabotage against the critical energy infrastructure of Europe," the Kremlin spokesman said, quoted by TASS.

As reported by EADaily, earlier Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Germany should not prosecute suspects in the undermining of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. On August 19, the German Prosecutor General's Office informed that a Ukrainian citizen was detained in Croatia on suspicion of attacks on Nord Streams. Polish lawyer Timoteusz Paprocki confirmed that this Ukrainian is Vladimir Zhuravlev, who was previously detained and released in Poland.

Explosions on two Russian export gas pipelines to Europe — Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 — occurred on September 26, 2022. Germany, Denmark and Sweden have not ruled out targeted sabotage. Nord Stream AG, the operator of Nord Stream, noted that the destruction of gas pipelines is unprecedented, and it is impossible to estimate the repair time.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office initiated a case on an act of international terrorism.
