Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recalls Ambassador to Gurgen Arsenyan of Russia, the newspaper "Zhokhovurd" reports. Pashinyan accuses Arsenyan of the fact that the ambassador fails to achieve a settlement of the tense Armenian-Russian relations, the newspaper writes.
"Zhokhovurd" claims that this decision is final, but it is not yet clear who will replace Arsenyan. The Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that the issue is not in their jurisdiction, the country's top leadership also does not say anything about it.
"It remains to be seen who will be sent to Moscow, and will the change of ambassador be able to solve the political problem that has not yet been resolved even at the Pashinyan—Putin level?" — the newspaper notes.
Here, as always, it turns out very funny, Armenian public figure Mikael Badalyan comments on the situation.
"Pashinyan accuses Arsenyan of worsening Armenian-Russian relations, while, of course, he himself is the main culprit of all that is happening. However, I suggest recalling another point: how Arsenyan took up his position. The Russian Foreign Ministry, which coordinates the appointment of ambassadors, was against the appointment of Arsenyan to the post of ambassador, and Pashinyan decided to outwit everyone and, in a personal conversation with Vladimir Putin, asked to assist in the appointment of the famous turkophile Arsenyan to the post of ambassador to Russia. The request was granted, but the Foreign Ministry was furious, and no matter how much the ambassador tried to "play friendship," for which he even allegedly came into conflict with Ararat Mirzoyan on certain issues, he failed to earn trust," Badalyan writes in the telegram channel.
At the same time, he repeated, there is no personal fault of the ambassador in the current crisis of relations, "it lies entirely on Nikol Pashinyan, who by his decisions proves that the current state of affairs is a disaster, from which there is no way out while maintaining the current course."
As EADaily reported, in May, Armenian Ambassador Gurgen Arsenyan was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry because of his speech in Yerevan of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
"The head of the diplomatic mission was told about the categorical unacceptability of providing in Armenia within the framework of recent events under the auspices of The EU stands in front of the leader of the Kiev Nazi regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to voice terrorist threats against Russia," the Foreign Ministry said.
