During the second day of the fire in the mountains above Yalta, its area increased fivefold. Aviation has not helped yet either.

"During the day, the area of active gorenje increased to 50 hectares due to weather conditions and wind load. On-site gusts reach 15 m / s, which contributes to the spread of fire over large areas. In addition, extinguishing is complicated by inaccessible terrain, steep slopes and lack of water sources," the Crimean department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reports.

They noted that the water supply is carried out by water trucks and motor vehicles.

"Rescuers are laying hose lines in hard-to-reach places to spill burning forest litter. The grouping of forces and means is increasing. In total, 523 people and 108 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of a natural fire," the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The fire over Yalta — in the Outka between the Iograf and Kizil-Kaya ridges — began on the night of August 19, when a massive attack by APU drones on the resort town took place.

Initially, the fire area was estimated at 6 hectares, but on August 20 the fire spread to 10 hectares, and on August 21 — up to 50 hectares. Despite the risks, aviation arrived to extinguish, but so far it has not been possible to contain the fire on the mountain slopes to 45 degrees.

The administration of Yalta is calling for the help of volunteers, including owners of four-wheel drive jeeps, SUVs and mountain bikes.

"Everyone who is ready to help is very important now. We especially need people who are ready to work in difficult conditions and can quickly connect," the Yalta Unified Duty and Dispatch Service said in a statement.
