Russia regards the US threats against Oman as pressure attempts and expects the situation to be resolved as soon as possible. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko.

"We regard such statements as an attempt to put pressure on these countries, but for our part, of course, we count on the soonest settlement of the situation, the return of peace and tranquility to the Persian Gulf region, since this is important both for this region, for Iran, for our Arab friends who live in the Persian Gulf zone, and for the whole world, which is largely dependent on energy supplies from this area," he told reporters.

According to the Associated Press, citing sources, US President Donald Trump threatened the Omani authorities because of dissatisfaction with the fact that he was closer to an agreement with Iran on the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, the head of the White House said today that "no negotiations or contacts with Iran are underway and are not planned." According to him, "the naval blockade is in full force, the Strait of Hormuz is open and functioning, all mines have been removed or undermined."

Senior US officials told CNN that Trump instructed to stop negotiations with Iran due to Tehran's unwillingness to make concessions. Also, the White House has abandoned attempts to "crush" Iran as soon as possible and now expects to "strangle" it over time. Prior to this, Trump has repeatedly stated that negotiations with Iran are progressing well and a new agreement may be reached in the near future.
