In Imatra, Finland, an explosion occurred at the plant of the timber company Stora Enso. This was reported by Yle TV and radio company.

It is reported that the incident occurred at night on August 18. The explosion occurred at one of the storage tanks of the storage area, as a result of which about 50 cubic meters of tall oil, a by—product of pulp production, spilled onto the territory of the plant. And part of it got into Lake Saimaa through the sewage system.

After the incident, Stora Enso said they would find out the circumstances of the accident after the cleanup of the territory was completed. The company also announced the suspension of the plant for damage assessment and repair work.

Recall, in recent months in the countries Technogenic accidents are increasingly occurring in the EU, primarily at military enterprises. In particular, a few days earlier there was an explosion at a large defense plant near Rome. Before that, a series of explosions occurred at a weapons factory in Bulgaria.
