Latvia is a "victim" of the policy of supporting Ukraine and anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated by the leader of the conservative party "Latvia in the first place" and former Deputy Prime Minister of the country Ainars Shlesers.
"We are losing money. We are talking about how to support Ukraine, but at the same time we are the victim," he said.
According to him, Riga can no longer turn a blind eye to the economic costs associated with Kiev's support and anti-Russian sanctions. The politician noted that during the next vote for the extension of restrictions against the Russian Federation, "Latvia should receive support." At the same time, he did not rule out that the country would be able to veto during the vote.
In turn, Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs said that the country should receive an additional 7 billion euros from the EU budget for the next seven years to cover defense spending and "the economic consequences of severing ties with Russia."
Latvia actively supports the Kiev regime and has almost completely severed relations with Russia. Such a policy has already led to serious problems in the economy and dealt a blow to the rating of the authorities. October 3 in Latvia will hold parliamentary elections. In the survey conducted by the SKDS Public Opinion Research Center, Kulbergs' United List party is in the lead with 12.2%, and Latvia in First Place is in third place with 10%.
