A Ukrainian Maya decoy drone exploded near the Romanian border. This is reported by the Bulgarian BGNES agency with reference to the country's Ministry of Defense.

"The initial analysis of the wreckage shows that, most likely, it is a decoy drone of the Maya type, widely used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the press center of the Ministry of Defense reported," the note says.

The Ministry of Defense categorically stressed that at the moment there is no reason to believe that the incident was intentional.

It is noted that the drone was not detected by radar systems either in the airspace of Bulgaria or in the skies of Romania, as well as by the NATO Joint Air Operations Center at the Torrejon Air Base (Spain).

According to Prime Minister Rumen Radev and the head of the Ministry of Defense, it is extremely difficult to detect such small devices flying at low altitude due to insufficient density of radar coverage.

As EADaily reported, an unknown drone flew into Bulgaria and exploded near a gas pipeline near the Romanian border. This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, AP reported.

The incident occurred today shortly after five o'clock in the morning in the area of the General-Toshevo community. The drone fell and exploded in a sunflower field about 200 meters from the Romanian compressor station and 1 km from a similar Bulgarian one The Trans-Balkan gas pipeline. According to Radev, the drone was not detected or identified during the flight through the airspace of Romania or Bulgaria.
