Restrictions on the export of Armenian goods to Russia provokes a negative perception of the EAEU in the country, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
"What is happening now in the space of the Eurasian Economic Union only provokes a negative perception of the EAEU in the Republic of Armenia. I am referring to the restrictions that our esteemed Russian colleagues have introduced regarding Armenian goods," Pashinyan told Channel One, Rossiya TV channel and RT.
Answering the question whether he compared the prospects of Armenian goods in the EU and in the EAEU, Pashinyan said that for any country a very important issue is to improve the quality, competitiveness and production standards.
"And we are working on it, all colleagues are working in The Eurasian Economic Union, and in all places. Because the competitiveness of any product and any economy is the first issue, the most important issue," Pashinyan said.
He added that the main issue he raised at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council concerned the undesirability of negativizing this process.
"This is a very good chance for the Eurasian Economic Union to work together to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of the EAEU. It is very important to understand that without fundamental principles, without the possibility of implementing the fundamental principles of the Eurasian Economic Union, the EAEU will be in crisis. Because what is happening now about Armenian goods is, of course, a problem for the Republic of Armenia, but it is also a big problem for the EAEU," Pashinyan says.
According to him, by the end of 2025, imports from the EAEU countries amounted to about $ 5 billion, and exports of Armenian products amounted to about $ 3.2 billion.
"These figures show that Armenia is not only a participant in the common market of the EAEU, but also a significant consumer of goods and services produced in the EAEU states," Pashinyan said.
Since June 12, the Rosselkhoznadzor has restricted the import of all quarantined products from Armenia, as well as transit through Russia to the EAEU member states.
