The Ukrainian National Military Cemetery was washed away after a downpour. This is reported in social networks by the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center (KECC).
They recalled that the Ukrainian Arlington was built in a completely unsuitable place for this — there is almost no natural drainage and drainage. Therefore, after a downpour, many graves "fell" into the ground and drowned in liquid mud. The videos posted on the Web show how the water accumulated in the ground of the cemetery flows out, forming a whole river.
"One heavy downpour showed what the community, hydrologists, environmentalists and specialists have been talking about for a long time: the place for the NVMC was chosen with gross disregard for natural conditions. It is unsuitable for a cemetery. There are still autumn rains, winter thaws, spring floods and new showers ahead. You can close the cemetery from the eyes. To close the problem — no. And now there are only a few hundred burials. And what will happen when there are up to 150 thousand of them? What will you do with water, sinkholes, washed-out soil and streams going towards villages?" — appeals to the authorities of the KECC, quoted by the publication "Country".
As reported by EADaily, the reburial ceremony of the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists ❶ (OUN ❶) Andriy Melnyk and his wife took place near Kiev. The event was held at the National Military Cemetery and gathered the country's top leadership.
