People's Artist of the USSR Lyudmila Chursina died after a long illness, TASS reported in the Theater of the Russian Army. She was 85 years old.
The cause of death was chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Chursina herself admitted that smoking was to blame for everything — she had suffered from this bad habit for more than 50 years.
The most famous film projects with her participation are "The Gloomy River", "The Tale of how Tsar Peter Arapa married", "A Place in the Sun", "His Excellency's Adjutant".
Chursina was married three times — to film director, Honored Artist of the RSFSR Vladimir Fetin, oceanographer Vladimir Zalitis and diplomat Igor Andropov. The actress did not leave any children.
