The UN strongly condemns any attacks on the civilian population, the office of the Secretary General of the organization said, commenting on the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the college in the LPR.

It is noted that such attacks are prohibited by international and humanitarian law. The UN urges to refrain from actions that could lead to further escalation.

Earlier, the Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN in Geneva said that ignoring the UN strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the college in the LPR means aiding terror.

"We remind you that the silence of the UN human rights defenders is tantamount to their open complicity and complicity in the bloody crimes of Neo—Bandera," the diplomatic mission said.

Following this in The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights was informed that they were aware of a strike on an academic building and a dormitory in Starobilsk and "are trying to gather additional information."

On the night of May 22, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck drones at the academic building and the college dormitory at the Pedagogical University in Starobilsk. There were 86 children aged 14 to 18 years. As a result of the strike, four people were killed and 35 were injured.

The head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik called the attack an act of inhumane treatment of civilians. The dormitory was almost completely destroyed. The search and rescue operation continues.
