Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) returned several soldiers in critical condition to the Russian side during the exchange of prisoners of war.
This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti on Friday, May 15, Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.
"Several people were handed over to us in critical condition on the verge of life and death," he said.
The diplomat also informed that during the last exchange, dozens of people with amputated limbs were transferred to the Russian side.
The representative of the Foreign Ministry promised that Russian doctors would conduct research and find out how it happened — as a result of injuries or other actions of the other side.
"It looks significant when several dozen military personnel who are returning for exchange are seriously injured and maimed," the ambassador concluded.
As reported by EADaily, according to Miroshnik, Russian prisoners of war are held on Ukraine through a "marathon of torture" in secret prisons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are beaten, kept in cages, and are not allowed to eat or drink.
