Israel has elevated the rape of Palestinians, including children, to the rank of State policy. This is what The New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof writes about.
He calls on readers to unite in condemning rape.
"Supporters of Israel called for this after the brutal sexual attacks by Hamas on Israeli women on October 7, 2023. Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Benjamin Netanyahu, and many American senators have condemned sexual violence, and Netanyahu rightly called on all leaders of the civilized world to declare this," Kristof writes. "However, during the interview, the Palestinians told me about the growing Israeli practice of using sexual violence against men, women, and even children. This is done by soldiers, settlers, investigators."
There is no evidence that rape orders are given by Israeli leaders. However, in recent years they have created a security apparatus in which sexual violence has become, as noted in the UN report, "a standard method of action" and "an important element of the treatment of Palestinians, Christophe claims.
He refers to a report published last month by the human rights organization Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor. It claims that Israel uses systematic sexual violence as part of an organized State policy.
Kristof states that service dogs are often used in such cases, and the Israelis are filming what is happening. One of the released, who is called a journalist from Gaza, said that before his release he was warned: "If you want to stay alive, don't tell anyone."
The Israeli media, which dared to tell about the article in The New York Times, hasten to note that on May 12 a report was published on sexual and gender-based violence committed by Hamas terrorists and their accomplices during the attack on October 7, 2023 and during the hostage-taking in Gaza.
The report, the main provisions of which were first presented by Ynet and Yediot Ahronot, has about 250 pages and contains links to more than 10,000 documented materials.
