Russian President Vladimir Putin joked about the difficulties experienced by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitz when flying to Moscow for the parade in honor of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
According to RIA Novosti, the Slovak prime minister himself told the Russian leader about his misadventures. According to Fico, he had to get to Moscow through three countries — the Czech Republic, Germany and Sweden.
At the same time, Fico reacted to the long journey with irony, expressing the opinion that it was "still better than by car." Putin supported the ironic tone and joked in response:
"And on a horse."
The publication notes that the President of Russia and the Prime Minister of Slovakia are holding talks in Moscow to discuss cooperation between the two countries, as well as current international issues.
On April 18, Lithuania and Latvia announced that they would not allow the overflight of the Fico government aircraft in the direction of Russia. Estonia announced a similar measure on April 19. Poland also refused the air corridor.
Thus, NATO countries tried to prevent the plans of the head of the Slovak government to visit Moscow to participate in the celebrations on the occasion of the end of the Great Patriotic War.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico flew to Moscow on the eve of May 9 and laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden.
