US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin he offered him a "small truce" in Ukraine, and suggested that the Russian leader might support this proposal.
Earlier on Wednesday, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Putin, during a telephone conversation with Trump, informed his American counterpart of his readiness to declare a truce for the period of Victory Day celebrations, and Trump actively supported this initiative.
"I had a long conversation with President Putin. I offered a little truce, and he can do it," Trump said.
He suggested that the Russian leader "may announce something" about this.
