Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Said Iravani, commented on US President Donald Trump's ultimatum about possible strikes on the country at a UN meeting. The broadcast was published on the organization's website.

The politician called such threats from the American leader unacceptable.

"It is regrettable that in front of the entire international community, the President of the United States shamelessly and brazenly threatens to destroy all of Iran's civilian infrastructure, including bridges, power plants and energy facilities," he said.

Earlier, Trump warned of possible strikes on Iran if an agreement is not reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not unblocked. The deadline for the ultimatum put forward by the American side expires on April 7 at 20.00 (at 3.00 on April 8 Moscow time). Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif urged Trump to extend the deadline for reaching an agreement with Iran for another two weeks. Further developments depend on the decisions of both countries.
