In the city of Siegburg in western Germany, a large-scale police operation is being carried out at the station after an explosion on a train. 500 passengers have been evacuated, train traffic has been suspended, Bild reports.

The ICE 19 train to Frankfurt am Main got stuck on platform No. 6 the night before. Passengers reported that an explosion occurred in car No. 23, as a result of which smoke rose. According to the newspaper, a paintball projectile thrown from the toilet worked. As a result, 12 people received minor injuries.

The police cordoned off the station and the surrounding area. The suspect, a 20-year-old German citizen in a mask with a large knife in his backpack, was locked by passengers in the toilet and arrested by security forces.
