The statement by British Defense Minister John Healy about Russia's involvement in the strike on the base of the Western coalition forces in Erbil, Iraq, is fiction.
This was reported on Saturday, March 14 by the TASS news agency, referring to the press service of the Russian Embassy in London. They stressed that Healy's words have nothing to do with reality.
"We cannot but note another accusation made by Mr. Healy, who stated that Russia helped Iran in striking the base in Erbil. He let his imagination run wild. It is noteworthy that high-ranking American officials themselves indicated that they do not have any information indicating this," the diplomatic mission said.
The diplomatic mission is convinced that Healy's statement about the Russian threat serves domestic political purposes. The embassy also recalled that London supplies weapons and intelligence for strikes on Russian territory to Ukrainian forces.
"British military aircraft operating near Russian airspace regularly conduct reconnaissance missions. The information is being transferred to the Ukrainian forces. The use of long-range Western missiles against targets deep in Russia requires detailed satellite reconnaissance, targeting and technical support of specialists capable of integrating this data into complex weapons systems," the embassy stated.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the ambassadors of Britain and France were strongly protested in connection with the strike on Bryansk by cruise missiles produced by the French-British concern MBDA on March 10 by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
