The UK deliberately prevents the achievement of a long-term and sustainable peace on Ukraine, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova during a briefing on February 26.
According to her, London is interested in maintaining instability in the region and is taking steps that hinder the settlement of the crisis.
"The British continue to show an active interest in preserving the source of instability in our region. They are doing everything they can to prevent a long—term and sustainable settlement of the crisis," Channel Five quoted the diplomat as saying.
Zakharova said that the proposed deployment of the British military on the territory of Ukraine would not lead to the end of the war, but to a prolongation of the conflict and an increase in the risks of a larger confrontation involving new states. In the event of intervention in the conflict, foreign units will be considered by Russia as legitimate military targets.
