China will supply Iran with anti-ship missiles. This is reported by Reuters with reference to sources.
Negotiations on the acquisition of Chinese CM-302 missiles are nearing completion, but the delivery date has not yet been determined, agency sources said.
These supersonic missiles are capable of covering distances up to 290 kilometers. They are designed to bypass ship defenses using low-altitude flight and high speed.
The deployment of these weapons will significantly strengthen Iran's combat potential and will become a threat to the US naval forces in the region, two weapons experts noted.
"If Iran gets supersonic missiles to attack ships in the area, it will completely change the situation. These missiles are very difficult to intercept," said Danny Citrinovich, a former Israeli intelligence officer and now a senior researcher on Iran at the National Security Institute, an Israeli think tank.
