Rostec specialists have developed a projectile for 30-millimeter cannons, which will increase the effectiveness of drone destruction. This was announced today, February 5, according to the press service of the state corporation.
The projectile is designed for firing from small-caliber artillery systems equipped with a 2A42 automatic cannon. They are installed, among other things, on airborne combat vehicles, BMP-2, BPMT, Mi-28NM and Ka-52M helicopters.
As Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the Rostec cluster of armaments, ammunition and special chemicals, noted, the ammunition will increase the likelihood of hitting small-sized drones and barrage ammunition.
"The sighting system calculates the most advantageous point of detonation depending on the flight path of the target, which allows you to get the drone with shrapnel. The time for detonation is entered automatically via the optical line. The projectile will significantly increase the efficiency of 30-mm cannons mounted on various platforms when firing at drones," Ozdoev explained.
For the first time, the ammunition will be presented in the unified Russian exposition of Rosoboronexport at the World Defense Show 2026 in Saudi Arabia, which will be held from February 8 to 12 in Riyadh. The press service does not report when the shells will arrive in our troops in the SMO zone.
