"Due to serious problems in the power grid of Ukraine on Saturday morning, January 31, the voltage on the 400 kV line Isaccia — Vulcanesti — MGRES (Moldavskaya GRES. — EADaily) fell, which led to an emergency shutdown of the electrical system," the agency said in a telegram channel.

This caused a cascading shutdown in the power grid of Ukraine and the triggering of automatic protections at substations.

"The blocks of nuclear power plants were unloaded. Now in Kiev, Kiev, Zhytomyr, Kharkov regions, the dispatcher has applied special emergency shutdown schedules. Ukrenergo power engineers are working to restore power supply. In the coming hours, the light will be restored," Shmygal writes in his telegram channel.
