Ukraine and its Western allies will have to make compromises for the sake of a peaceful settlement of the crisis. This was announced on January 6 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz following the summit of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris.
"Will we silence the guns on Ukraine is in six weeks or six months, but we are working tirelessly to achieve peace. At the same time, we will certainly have to make compromises," he said.
During the speech, Merz did not say what kind of concessions he had in mind. He noted that the settlement process itself will require great efforts in the near future.
"In the current geopolitical conditions, great efforts will be required from us, including in the coming days, weeks, and maybe months," the politician said.
